âSt Etienne is a large complex that overlooks the sprawling city of Kigali and is owned and run by the church diocese. Comprising accommodation in two large blocks, they are set within beautiful gardens and overlooked by its rather imposing church. They are super helpful and will provide breakfast as early as you would like, to enable any early commitments. Food is tasty and plentiful, and is typically Rwandan. The rooms are a good standard with no frills but each has an en-suite shower and bathroom and a mosquito net is provided for your protection. The site has security 24 hours a day and at night there are armed police standing guard as well. I stayed in Mercy House block, which is within a compound on the other side of the road. It has a beautiful gardens with avocado trees and a stunning view of both the city lights at night and the sunrises that only enhance the city as it wakes up.â
