Mukati na Butta Café

“It was my first night in Kigali and a work colleague suggested we meet here, as it was only a short walk from where I was staying — and it’s one of her favorite cafes :) Lovely atmosphere just off a busy main road, and inside it felt worlds away from everything just outside the door. I ordered a build-your-own salad and I was very impressed! Prices were decent for a fine establishment like this. My friend ordered a wine and potatoes. Lovely smiling service throughout our visit, though it was a little bit chilly inside with the air-conditioning on. I would recommend taking a light jacket, even in May.”

“A very nice cafe with a strong cake and sweet offering. The service was well attended to, professional and kind. The set up was well thought through and well designed. I ordered a man ice macchiato and cinnamon roll and found the cinnamon roll soft, sweet and very nice! They know how to not cook it for too long which is rare in Rwanda! There were lots of other good looking options like cookies and donuts but I had to use some restraint so I didn’t have to hit the gym for 3 hours. The internet worked great and there was moderate noise but manageable to take calls and get work done too. I wished I was hungry for lunch as the food menu was unique and looked good from what I could see of everyone else’s food. Next time!”

“This is a gem of a cafe. We recieved the kindest and friendliest service here during our stay in Kigali. The food for the most part is lovely. We were particularly impressed with the Akabanga chicken and lyonnaise potatoes. (Hope I spelled that right!) Do yourself a huge favour and go to this cafe! We will be back!”

“We’ve ordered from here twice, once in person and once via delivery. The ambience is comfortable , with plenty of space to relax with friends. The outdoor seating is fine unless the road noise bothers you. While the food took a little while to arrive, it was definitely worth the wait, tasty and delicious. The desserts were also great: the vanilla cake was perfect, and the apple crumble was excellent, though I’d call it more of a cheesecake. The chocolate cake, however, didn’t quite do it for me. Overall, it’s a great spot for coffee and a quick lunch.”

“MnB has been amazing since its opening. I’m the type of person who is loyal to good food, and will keep coming back if the quality and consistency is there. I’ve been here 5 times since the opening last week.. breakfast, lunch and dinner is a hit. The atmosphere caters to coffee shop/ work vibe, but also an intimate, charming dinner. I love it from morning to night, with amazing food to match any time of day. Great job to the owners, and staff!”
