Kanyinya Canopy Walk

“Had a lovely day out here. It's really pretty and there's nesting weaver birds on the right as you step onto the bridge. Really gorgeous place to observe nature. You can take a motorbike there, but not a car. It's the second left once you turn onto the dirt road. GPS tried to take me down the first left. Parking there is very tight and not easy to turn a larger bike around. About 8-10 minutes on wheels, but you can park up by the main road and walk. There are a lot of hiking trails in this area. Lovely that this is so close to Kigali. If you carry on up the main road there’s a nice café at a petrol station that sells coffee and food. You can also check out the Wall of Pipes on your way back to town.”

“We visited on October 20th, 2025, and overall, it was a delightful and positive experience. Getting to the site was straightforward, with easy access via the main road connecting Kigali to Musanze. Along the way, we stopped at the charming village of Nyarusange, which has become quite tourist-friendly. The village is well-developed and well-serviced, with a welcoming atmosphere. It was surprising to find that many of the locals spoke both English and French, which is quite rare in rural areas. The village is home to numerous bars, cafes, and offers stunning views of Sharonge. The bridge itself, completed in 2024, is easily accessible via a well-maintained mud road that is suitable for vehicles, making it an easy visit for tourists. The bridge is relatively new and has been kept in excellent condition, offering a long and scenic experience that adds a great deal of value to the trip. It’s a suitable spot for tourists, combining natural beauty with a well-maintained infrastructure, making the visit both enjoyable and worthwhile. Overall, the area provides a blend of accessibility, charm, and modernity, making it an ideal destination for those looking to explore the region.”

“This is a nice place but it’s not a canopy walk, this is only a long bridge, some 200 meters long. Whit car it’s a bit risky to go there.”
