Remera's salon scene is broader than most visitors realise. The Petit Stade end of the neighbourhood has the highest density of beauty businesses in eastern Kigali — natural-hair specialists, nail bars, kids' cuts, a serious barbershop, a few lash-and-brow specialists. They sit close enough together that a Saturday morning could comfortably take in two or three.

How Remera does salons
Two patterns hold across the Remera scene:
- Specialists outperform generalists. The salons with narrower offerings (nails, natural hair, men's grooming, kids) generate more loyal-customer language than the all-service salons. NIK is the exception — its volume model works because it's the practical default rather than the specialist call.
- Named stylists are the moat. Across all seven on this list, the recurring five-star reviews name specific people. Jeanne, Rose, the staff at Angel Kids — the customer loyalty in Remera is to people, not to brands.
Practical things
- Booking. WhatsApp is the standard. Every salon on this list takes bookings via the WhatsApp number on their Kisimenti profile.
- Deposits. Specialist services (BIAB nails, natural-hair braids, lash extensions) often require a 25-50% deposit. Plan accordingly.
- Walk-ins. NIK Salon Giporoso accepts walk-ins reliably. The smaller specialists usually require booking — often a week out.
- Pricing. Manicure: 8,000-22,000 RWF. Braids / protective styles: 18,000-50,000 RWF. Barber's cut: 4,000-10,000 RWF. Lash extensions: 25,000-65,000 RWF.
- Walking. Most of the Remera strip is walkable — useful if you want to combine appointments.
