- RwandAir direct Dubai (DXB) → Kigali (KGL). ~6 hours. Daily direct flights. Round-trip economy typically AED 2,800-5,500. The fastest UAE-Rwanda routing.
- Emirates / flydubai connections via Africa. Some routings connect through Nairobi or Addis. Often slightly cheaper but adds total trip time.
- Qatar Airways via Doha. Useful for travellers from Abu Dhabi who'd prefer the Doha layover.
- Ethiopian Airlines via Addis. Star Alliance option, sometimes the cheapest in fare sales.
Booking: 4-6 weeks ahead for RwandAir direct. Avoid Ramadan-Eid peaks if possible — fares can spike sharply.
Currency and money

- It's cooler than expected. Kigali sits at 1,500m altitude. Days are 22-26°C; nights drop to 15-18°C. Much cooler than the Gulf year-round. Pack light layers.
- Halal options are good. The Yemeni-Levant cluster is fully halal. Beyond that, most Kigali restaurants serve halal-acceptable meat — confirm with the kitchen for specific requirements.
- Friday is a normal working day. Rwanda's working week is Monday-Friday with Saturday partial. Friday prayers happen at scheduled mosque times; offices stay open. Plan business meetings accordingly.
- Service is brisk but polite. Different rhythm from the Gulf — quicker, more direct, less elaborate ritual. Most Emirati visitors find this efficient.
- Internet and phone work everywhere. MTN Rwanda and Airtel Rwanda both run reliable 4G/5G. Buy a SIM at the airport — your Gulf mobile roaming is overkill.
