“After a full morning of moving from one office to another in Kigali , processing documents and navigating administrative corridors .. I needed a proper pause. It was just after my visit to the National Identity Cards Headquarters, and as I was heading toward the main entrance of the University of Rwanda HQ, I spotted a place called The Roots café. Something about it made me stop. I decided to step in .. just for a double espresso before continuing my day. That decision was worth it. The espresso was excellent ,, rich, well-balanced, and brewed with precision. I paired it with a slice of banana cake, which complemented it perfectly. Simple, but exceptionally satisfying. After the rush of the morning, I felt refreshed, re-energised, and ready to continue. For anyone who appreciates a properly crafted coffee and a calm spot to reset during a busy Kigali day, I highly recommend The Roots café. They truly know their brewing game. Much respect. “An unknown gem in Gikondo Kigali! I didn’t know we had a restaurant like this in Gikondo (after moving here for many years) until I saw it on the map and had to come find out myself. On a Sunday morning it was sleepy but operational, they were getting their fresh food deliveries from the producers which was fun to see them unload the squash and peas and beans. The owner came to greet and say hello and asked how I found it. I only came for a cappuccino which was hot and fresh. I looked at the menu and will bring the family back soon. Good variety and prices! My favorite part was the design, “Roots Cafe” has green plants and roots all around making it feel relaxed and grounded. The front palm free is used to make a very cool designed roof that stands out and makes it a unique experience to dine at.”
