“Mikidas is a nice Kenyan Restaurant at the heart of Kigali. I had mizuzu (plantains), creamed managu, nyama choma, brown ugali. Tasted Virunga Beer here for the first time. Serclvice is good. I was particularly wowed by a young Lady called Yalkini, bless her soul for the good service. Toilets are clean with h funny captions all over. Waiting time for meals was long but worth it as they are cooked on order. I felthome away from home.”
“Complete disappointment! I came to this restaurant hoping to try the local cuisine and enjoy the atmosphere. I arrived at 10:30 PM and asked the staff if the kitchen was still open — they politely said yes. I placed an order: brochette, kebabs, chips, banana mizuzu, and a simple salad. The order was accepted without any problem. After some time, the waiter came back and said the kitchen was already closed. This is just incomprehensible! Why accept an order if they don’t intend to prepare it? Such treatment of customers is unacceptable. It’s clear that this place does not value its guests. I definitely won’t be coming back. It’s very disappointing to have wasted my time and hopes. I fully understand how difficult it is to keep a business running at a high standard, and I can see that you genuinely want the best for your customers — as this directly affects both the income and the reputation of your establishment. In my opinion, the main issue lies with some members of the staff: certain employees treat their job simply as a way to earn their salary, without caring about how this impacts the restaurant’s image and the guests’ overall experience. Even with excellent cuisine and a great concept, such an attitude can undermine all your efforts. I would like to note that the gentleman who served me (I believe he also works as the bartender) was extremely polite and attentive. I understand that in this situation it was not his fault — the problem was with the cooks who decided to leave early, leaving my order unfulfilled. I’m saying this not to criticize, but because I believe you can address this issue and raise the service level to what your establishment truly deserves.”
