“I finally tried the Osso Buco at Casa Mia, and I’m still thinking about it. It was one of those meals that makes you pause mid-bite — perfectly slow-cooked, deeply flavorful, and executed with real respect for the dish. Tender, rich, comforting, and refined all at once. Easily one of the best plates I’ve had in Kigali. What makes it even better is that this wasn’t a one-off. Over multiple visits, Casa Mia has been consistently excellent. The vegetable, mushroom, and pumpkin soups are all warm, balanced, and thoughtfully prepared. The pizza is spot on, the pasta is always satisfying, and the bruschetta is simple, fresh, and exactly how it should be. There’s a clear focus on quality ingredients and proper technique across the menu. A huge part of this magic comes from Head Chef Matteo — genuinely one of the best chefs I’ve encountered in Kigali. He brings together his Italian heritage with German gastronomy experience in a way that feels both authentic and elevated. On top of that, he’s one of the nicest, most welcoming people you’ll meet, which says a lot about the spirit of the kitchen. The family that owns Casa Mia makes you feel immediately at home, and the staff are kind, attentive, and knowledgeable without ever being overbearing. The restaurant itself is beautifully designed, well located, and very fairly priced, which makes it easy to keep coming back. Whether you live in Kigali or you’re just visiting, Casa Mia is a must. “I had lunch with a friend who ordered pizza while I had roasted beef with wine. Everything was perfect. The ambiance was exciting, yet calm and peaceful. The food was more delicious than I expected. It’s a great option for those looking to switch from local to international dishes in Kigali. The waitstaff were very humble and provided excellent service. The restaurant could enhance the experience by adding some classical music to certain dining areas.”

“Went here for a date with my wife, thinking an Italian restaurant would be the perfect setting for a romantic dinner. When we came in, the tables weren't even set, just empty tables... so at first we didn't realize this was Casa Mia... it did not give the impression of an italian restaurant, or a restaurant at all for that matter... but as we sat down, they started laying the cutlery and plates. Very odd. How about setting tables before, maybe with a flower and the usual items? There is nothing wrong with the menue. We both had pretty good italian dishes, me a lasagna, and my wife a decent tagliatelle, served with an acceptable red 🍷 wine. For dessert, I had a huge tiramisu that was quite good, albeit way too big. Being in Rwanda, the service was, of course, super friendly and nice. The atmosphere, though... Super bright lights, no decorations, just plain white walls... It was like having dinner at the entrance to a hospital! It's sad, really, because it would be so easy to make it into a nice, italian looking restaurant, if the owners were willing to put in a little effort...”
