The cheaper alternative isn't grim. The brochette stands (skewered grilled meat with sambusa, akabenz, or chips) are the most common, found across Nyamirambo, Remera, and Nyabugogo. A full brochette meal lands 2,500-4,000 RWF. The local isombe (cassava-leaf stew over rice) at neighbourhood lunch joints in Nyamirambo and Kicukiro: 1,800-3,500 RWF.
