âJollof Kigali is one of those places that gives you hope the moment you step in. The ambience is warm, the space feels intentional, and the staff carry themselves with that polite, attentive energy Nigerians instantly recognize. On first impression, you think, Okay, these people know what theyâre doing.
Then the jollof arrives, and thatâs where the story shifts.
Whatever they served had the idea of Nigerian jollof, but none of its soul. The flavour profile was off from the first spoonful. No smoky backbone, no depth from the pepper base, no layered heat â just rice that felt like it passed through a Nigerian kitchen without actually stopping. It wasnât bad food; it just wasnât our jollof. Calling it Nigerian would be generous.
The chicken, to be fair, was the redemption arc. Well seasoned, juicy, and carrying that familiar Nigerian spice rhythm that makes you momentarily forgive everything else on the plate. Whoever handled the proteins understands the assignment.
But the real surprise was the eba and egusi. That one came correct. Thick, flavourful egusi that tasted like someoneâs auntie supervised the pot, and eba that didnât fight you or taste like it travelled across borders. It landed exactly where it should.â

âHidden gem for Nigerian and west African food. Great for watching soccer match or romantic dinner in different sections. Also good for family with children. Great customer service. Priced right. Food delicious.â

âNice place. Good atmosphere. You will wait a bit for your food because they are making it after you order which is a good thing.
The taste was a bit disappointing but maybe because im used to the Senegalese version of this dish. It was ok though.
The plantains were good.â

âUsually Nigerian restaurants outside Nigeria attract only Nigerian patrons of the black variety. This is the first ! Nigerian restaurant outside Nigeria where I saw Caucasian patrons eating egusi soup and garri )or was that fufu). And they used their hands. Both of them. No Nigerian with them. And my order was delivered within a reasonable time. I ordered fish pepper soup and I emphasised that I wanted pepper and it had pepper. Good use of space and friendly service. The location might be great for many but only because I love quiet neighbourhoods is why I'm giving 3 stars for atmosphere. The location encourages very late night operations which is good especially for Kigali where crime rate is really very low. Try it, you should love it.â

âWow! Talk about naija food while away from naija follow Kigali gat you. The meat platter is a must try. I wanted edikaikong soup but unfortunately they didn't have that. My friend had the loaded noddles and that was a banga. I completely recommend. Minimum spend per person is about 20,00 RWFâ
