Groomed Barbershop

“Every country does things differently, and this one was no exception. Most of the shaving was done with a machine, as expected. But when he pulled out scissors, I was a bit baffled—they looked like kitchen scissors. The haircut didn’t turn out great, but it was survivable. Afterwards, I was led into a small cabin closed off with a curtain, where my hair was washed. The woman washing it asked if I wanted a facial treatment. I figured it would cost extra and said yes. Surprisingly decent experience—definitely better than the scissors. The haircut cost 7,000 RWF, the facial treatment 5,000 RWF.”

“I do not even know this place is in business not having the proper tools to cut hair period his scissors are like something out of a kitchen there are not proper Barber shears. He did not even have equipment to do a shave he pulls out a Norelco rotary head razor to shave my face. My Norelco at home is better than that I come to a barber shop for a clean shave. Also I wanted to dye my beard and and sideburns I showed him a picture and I told him I wanted it brown and I wanted to make sure it was brown. Afterward it was completely black and my natural hair is light brown. You saw a huge black line across the side of my head going all the way down to the beard and then the top was light light brown. After he says they only have color for Black people's hair. It makes sense but tell me that before you do it. I had to take control and do it myself luckily my family has a barber shop and I was able to correct it as best as I could. Overall I was able to make it better but if I would have left under his control I would have been embarrassed on the rest of my vacation. I cannot recommend this barber shop to Caucasians. He is extremely ill-equipped and undertrained”

“I had a great experience at this barbershop. It is clean and well aerated. The barber was gentle with hair cutting, he followed my guidance as to how I wanted my beard trimmed, but the best part is the cleanup. Got a face, head and back massage for the equivalent of $8!! I live in the US. You would have to pay at least $100 for the same service.”

“The barber was awesome! I have been to see him 3 time for a head shave and beard trim. The problem came on this most recent trip when I only needed a head shave. When I went to pay, the price was very high. The cashier showed me the price list and pointed to the line which said "people of other skin colors" and gave a higher price. I am not sensitive to skin color...but to have an official, high price simply based on color seems wrong. I doubt I will return.”

“Generally I like going to this barbershop. My barber is professional, attentive and does a pretty good job. But on my most recent trip there I had to wait upwards of 45 minutes and I was less than happy about that. Anyway good place!”
